A native of Columbus, Ohio, Kojo Kamau studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, The Ohio State University, and the Rochester Institute of Technology. Kamau traveled throughout the world, taking photographs across the Americas, Africa, and Europe. His career retrospective was exhibited at the Columbus Museum of Art in 2009, and his archive of work belongs in the permanent collections of prestigious Ohio institutions including the Ohio Supreme Court, the Ohio State University, and Columbus Metropolitan Library. Kamau passed away in 2016 at the age of 77.
