American artist and Cincinnati native, Tom Hunt, had an early interest in the arts. Rather than attending the local high school, Hunt chose to attend Archbishop Moeller High School for its art program. He then continued his studies with a Fine Art degree at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Washington University, St. Louis. Hunt found his style in plein air paintings and pottery, and now lives as an artist and teacher with his family in Missouri. For the last decade of teaching, Hunt has taken his students on annual art history trips to Europe. His plein air technique allows him to maintain the fast traveling schedule across England, France and Italy; he only paints on site, in open air, and does not continue to work on the paintings once he leaves each location. His paintings become snapshots of singular days and moments throughout his travels. Back in the States, Hunt is drawn to the local scenery in Missouri, as well as his hometown’s vistas of the Ohio River. Tom Hunt continues to work as a teacher and artist in Missouri and is represented by Grafica Fine Arts Gallery.
