A Bendix Aviation Corporation console radio phonograph, model 1217D. Circa 1948, with a lot of 78 rpm records from the same era. This fabulous piece of history is set in a mahogany console cabinet with splayed French feet, oval insets with silk weave speaker fabric, ‘swing-a-door’ phonograph, record storage shelf, and a 14 tube radio with Bendix Hush-O-Matic, and preset radio push buttons for 1940s Cincinnati stations such as WLWT and others. Bendix advertisements of the era boast of meticulous aviation quality engineering that produced a rich and high quality tone in Bendix radios and phonographs. Powers up when plugged in, but turntable has not been tested.
