Marc Chagall, born in 1887 in Russia, moved to Paris as a young artist. There, he became part of the famous École de Paris along with many of his famous Jewish contemporaries; including Chaim Soutine and Modigliani. Chagall’s body of work spans several decades, but he is most well-known for his expressive, symbolic imagery as a way of exploring religion.
