An original Hiroshige Japanese woodcut. Ando Hiroshige (1797 – October 12, 1858) is one of the most revered Japanese woodcut artist ever to have lived. His are some of the most frequently reproduced. This print ‘Kangawa
The Vertical Tokaido’ was published by Tsutaya in 1855 features a bay bathed in ethereal moon light looked down upon from a tea room. The print features the artist’s signature in red and black to the bottom left hand corner, just above Toyokuni’s publisher’s seal. This is an immaculate print and comes presented in a white coverlet.
Condition
Print exhibits some slight wear consistent with exposure, but for being a mid nineteenth century woodcut, is in great condition.
