Painter and printmaker Lenore Rundle Szesko was especially known for her graphic Surrealist paintings and wood engravings often featuring hybrid figures and Cubist elements. Based in Illinois, she studied at the Art Institute of Chicago where she received her B.F.A. in Drawing, Painting, and Illustration and her M.F.A. in Painting. She also studied wood engraving with Adrian Troy and was a scholar on Pre-Columbian art, African tribal art, and Mayan culture, all of which influenced her work. Throughout her career, Szesko went on to participate in 275 national group juried shows. She was the recipient of many awards and her work can be found in both corporate and private collections including the New Jersey State Museum, Springfield College in Massachusetts, Chicago’s Standard Oil Company, and the Jayell Publishing House in Florida.
