A lot of ‘The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’, by Samuel Coleridge and illustrated by Gustav Dore. The folio edition was published by Harper & Brothers, New York, 1883 in deep brick red cloth covered boards with blind embossing at the beveled edge, gilt page edges and gilt stamped title and albatross. The book is beautifully illustrated with 38 full page wood engravings by Gustave Dore (French 1832-1883), his imaginative and incredibly detailed images immediately evoking the mysterious world of the Ancient Mariner. An additional copy published a year later in 1884 is offered next as item 14CIN096-016.

• This item is Ex-Libris, having been stored in a climate controlled facility and is being auctioned to benefit the Cincinnati Art Museum Library.

Condition

to fair. The cover boards show discoloration and wear at the spine and bumped corners. The interior pages display some age toning but no foxing. Several pages (about 1/3 in) are becoming loose at the binding.
