Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Peter Lanz Hohnstedt received an early formal art education under Frank Duveneck and Victor Casnelli. In the early 20th century, he moved to New Orleans where his adept skill as a landscape artist became recognized and Hohnstedt was able to elevate his career while at the Delgado Museum. He quickly became an award-winning painter known for his paintings of Texas wildflower landscapes, Louisiana swamplands, mountainous riverscapes and more. Peter Hohnstedt’s artworks are widely admired and collected by private and public institutions.
