Additional Information Provenance: Property from the Estate of Brooke Astor, Sotheby’s, New York, 24 September 2012, lot 317. Brooke Astor (1902-2007) was a renowned philanthropist and champion of all things New York City who is remembered as a legend of New York society. This Edwardian kneehole dressing table was part of her collection sold at Sotheby’s, New York over two days in September 2012. The sale included the contents from Mrs. Astor’s Park Avenue duplex apartment designed by Albert Hadley, and her country estate Holly Hill. A collector driven by a passion for beauty and tremendous style and taste, this dressing table offers a wonderful opportunity for a new buyer to own a piece of New York City cultural history.

Condition

- surface and finish wear with nicks, scratches and abrasions consistent with age and use; chips to top corner; heavy surface wear, staining and discoloration to leather surface; scattered finish loss; back casters will need adjusting to sit level, and one appears to be bent; additional caster provided in drawer; top section is not affixed to base.
