Item Details
A hand signed Norman Rockwell ‘Only Skin Deep’ 1944 poster print. Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) was an American painter and illustrator whom depicted the cultural scenarios and moments of everyday Americans. The artist said it best himself, ‘Without thinking too much about it in specific terms, I was showing the America I knew and observed to others who might not have noticed,’ – Norman Rockwell. ‘Only Skin Deep’ originally appeared in the Saturday Evening Post illustrating a man getting the woman’s name ‘Betty’ tattooed to his arm. The list of crossed out tattooed names makes the viewer question the bright red facial expression of the gentleman to be from pain or embarrassment? Signed by Rockwell in the bottom right corner. The poster was printed by The Curtis Publishing Company 1944 in Japan.
