Hand Signed Norman Rockwell "Art Critic" 1955 Poster Print
Item Details
A hand signed Norman Rockwell ‘Art Critic’ 1955 poster print. Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) was an American painter and illustrator whom depicted the cultural scenarios and moments of everyday Americans. The artist said it best himself, ‘Without thinking too much about it in specific terms, I was showing the America I knew and observed to others who might not have noticed,’ – Norman Rockwell. ‘Art Critic’ originally appeared in the Saturday Evening Post illustrating an art critic with every imaginable artist utensil, such as a magnifying glass, an art history book, an easel and a painting board. Comically, he is gazing at the artwork, but the artwork is questionably gazing back at him! Perhaps this work suggests the study or closeness one has with understanding art through the judging glares of the artwork itself. Signed by Rockwell in the bottom right corner. The poster was printed by The Curtis Publishing Company 1955 in Japan.
