Vintage Wooden Archery Long Bow, circa 1950s
Item Details
A vintage wooden archery longbow, circa 1950s. A classic straight-longbow style with no re-curve. Very reminiscent of the six-foot English longbows that have been used in battle for many centuries. Longbows have even been depicted as far back as the early paintings of cavemen. But wooden bows, both straight and recurve styles, are no longer favored by modern archers who now prefer compound bows made from synthetic composite laminates, using pulleys, leverage and counterweights to give their arrows faster flight speeds and accuracy. This longbow is 68.5’ long x 1.5’ across with a thickened laminated wood section in the center for extra spring and strength. Notched on either end to receive a bowstring. Has a leather hand grip and integrated arrow rest. Could potentially still function as a target bow.
Condition
No bow string. Leather hand grip shows wear. Good condition with no apparent cracks or splits.
