Original Joe Peacock Oil on Board Painting
Item Details
An original oil on board painting by artist Joe Peacock. Born in Detroit, the artist’s family moved to Del Rio when the artist was very young. His father was a water well driller, and the artist, as a boy, often followed his father afield. His work is primarily collected in Texas, apparently highly sought after and hard to come by. This painting is certainly of high quality. It is titled ‘Pack Man’ to the verso and features an image of a man on horseback leading another horse, with pack on its back, along a hazy dry dirt road. The reflection of the scene is wonderfully illustrated in the pond’s glistening surface. This painting reverberates summertime so that the dust can be smelled, and the perspiring understood. This is a painting about the life of a cowboy, make no mistake. The painting is signed to the lower left and presented in a wooden frame with thoroughly distressed gilt.
Condition
- in excellent condition aside from a couple of sparse scuff marks to the frame edge.
