John Nieto is known for his Fauvist influenced use of strong lines and bold colors to depict animals and Native American figures. Nieto’s work does not render a specific people or region but encompasses a universal spirit and aesthetic of his Native American culture. He has exhibited all over the world and is housed in the permanent collections of the Booth Museum, Cartersville, GA; National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson Hole, WY; The Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin, Austin TX; New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe, NM; Marine Corp Museum, Washington, D.C.; and The Heard Museum, Phoenix, AZ.
