Born in Caldwell, Ohio, artist Will Rannells was known for his paintings of dogs. He studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and worked primarily as a commercial artist and illustrator. His anthropomorphic dog illustrations appeared on the covers of Life, McCalls, and Judge. He became a Professor of Commercial Art at Ohio State University and worked there for over 35 years. He illustrated several children’s books including Waif and Just a Mutt.

- toning to paper and mat burn to the edges; minor abrasions to the frame.
