An original watercolor on paper painting signed to the lower left-hand corner by well-listed landscape painter Allen Fontaine (1861 – 1962). As a commercial artist he is said to have painted for Macy’s department store while living in New York City, but he is most well known for his landscapes. This landscape is typical of the artist’s oeuvre, and exhibits the artist’s extremely subtle painting of water. This exquisite watercolor is presented in a fine gilt wood frame, with a single mat to edge.
