1986 Statue of Liberty Centennial Commemorative Proof Two-Coin Set. This commemorative coin set features a dollar coin with Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to the obverse and the the torch and the famous words from Emma Lazarus’s poem ‘The New Colossus’ that grace the base of the Statue of Liberty. The half dollar coin is also proof, but clad, and features the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor to the obverse and scene of 19th Century immigrants to the reverse. Designer: John Mercanti. Metal Content: 90% silver and 10% copper. Diameter: 38.1mm (silver dollars). Weight: 26.73 grams (silver dollar).
