Inspired by celebrated naturalist John Muir and more so by the beauty of the Pacific northwest, where the artist grew up, Stephan Lyman works reflect his fondness for the natural world around him. After earning a degree in art from Art Center School of Design in Pasadena, California, Lyman attempted to pursue a career in commercial design but soon realized that the call of nature was much stronger than his desire to reside in a bustling city. Moving to Idaho to develop his artist style, Lyman’s risk paid off when his first limited edition print was published by The Greenwich Workshop in 1983. Since, the artist has been a frequent participant in the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum ‘Birds of Art’ international show as well as “Artist of the Year” at the 1991 Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show.
