A Prudence Turner signed original ‘Down From Inverness’ Oil on Canvas illustrates an old Scottish bar song. Prudence Turner (1930-2007) was a contemporary landscape artist whom painted in an impressionistic style. The English artist was well known for her Scottish Highlands landscape paintings. ‘Down From Inverness’ is an oil on canvas with quick brush strokes and an impasto painting technique. The thick colorful paint builds upon each other illustrating the Scottish pub song ‘The Ball at Killiemuir’, a rather rowdy tune. In the foreground, are four lads gathered together as if they were in a pub, but they have been placed in a rocky forest landscape. In the background, twenty four maidens are descending from Inverness dressed in white and some have exposed breasts. This is unframed and signed on the lower right corner. Condition

The canvas has warped and there is a large crack on the right side. Perhaps if this is properly stretched and framed, the condition will improve.
