Born in Reinsdorf, Germany in 1843 Heinrich Faust is a celebrated portrait, landscape and genre painter. After training at the Academy of Cassel and as well as in Anvers with Belgian painter Van Lerius, Faust moved to Italy. He eventually settled in Cassel, France on the French-Belgian border where he spent the rest of his life painting. Today his work can be found in the Cassel Art Museum as well as in a number of other private collections.

Condition

- light scratching to the frame; paint is beginning to chip off of the canvas to the lower edge; toning and foxing to the verso; four repairs/patches to the verso.
