Provenance
From the estate of Mrs. Wanda M. Prillaman
Wanda McNeil Prillaman was an American watercolorist, teacher, and active member of the community in Martinsville, Virginia. Mrs. Prillaman studied art in the 1957 class of Radford College (now Radford University), and in 2007 she began painting a detailed view of the campus. The first panel, a 33-foot long piece that folded along architectural lines to create a free-standing, double-sided panorama, was unveiled at the University’s 2010 Centennial celebration. She was a well-known member of the Martinsville art community, teaching high school and community college art classes throughout her career in addition to maintaining a studio practice. Each Christmas season for over 40 years, she painted an original scene specifically to reproduce on unique greeting cards. She was a founding member of the Lynwood Artists group, was a board member at Piedmont Arts, and was a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society. Her work is held in private collections across the United States and Europe.
