1966 Millennium of Christian Poland silver medal struck by Toye, Kenning & Spencer Ltd. (London). This rare commemorative medal was approved by decree of the President of the Republic of Poland in exile, August Zaleski. Obverse: Crowned state eagle to center, ‘PREZYDENT RZECZPOSPOLITEJ i RZĄD’ (President of the Republic and the Government). Reverse: Against the backdrop of the landscape, a cross from which rays symbolize the Christian faith. Mieszko I of Poland kneeling beneath the cross, supported by a shield with stylized eagle, ‘TYSIĄCLECIE POLSKI CHRZEŚCIJAŃSKIEJ / 966-1966’ (The Millennium of Christian Poland / 966-1966). TK&S maker’s mark and London silver hallmarks to lower margin. Designer: Wieslaw Antoni Pater. Metal Content: 92.5% silver. Diameter: 63 mm. Weight: 97.2 grams. Medal is accompanied by the original Toye, Kenning & Spencer presentation box.
