A native of Harvey, Illinois, Fred Samuelson obtained his BFA and MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in the early 1950s. Beginning in 1955, he became an instructor of drawing and painting at the Institute Allende in San Miguel Allende, Mexico, where he spent much of his life. Throughout his career, he exhibited his work widely throughout Denver, Dallas, Kalamazoo, Oklahoma City and Acapulco.

- light surface accretion; lifting paint and loss throughout; slight yellowing to pigments; abrasions to painting and frame.
