Born in 1939, Marvin Everett Hayes is an award-winning American painter, printmaker, and illustrator. Hayes is perhaps best known for his corporate illustration work, for which he was published in numerous national publications such as Esquire, Time, and Playboy. However, his greatest artistic achievement is widely considered to be God’s Images, a series of 53 copperplate etchings depicting biblical events and themes for which he collaborated with the novelist and poet James Dickey. Artwork by Marvin Hayes has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New York Public Library, and also belongs in the collection of the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.
