Tibetan Skull Damaru Drum, Early 20th Century

Item Details

A Tibetan skull damaru with a long fabric chöpen (tail). The drums are traditionally crafted from the joined uppermost parts of human male and female skulls. They are used in a number of Tibetan Buddhist rituals and played using the small striker cords attached at the central collar.
