Ardeshir Mohasses (Mohases) was an Iranian illustrator, satirist, and artist known for his editorial political cartoons. He studied political science and law at Tehran University, but was encouraged by friends to submit his drawings to Towfiq a popular satirical journal. After college he continued to work as an illustrator and cartoonist for various newspapers and journals, including several international papers like The New York Times. In 1976 Mohasses traveled to the United States, but was unable to return to Iran amidst the political unrest. After the 1979 Revolution, he made his permanent home in New York, where he continued to draw and frequently illustrated articles for The New York Times. In 2006, he held a solo exhibition at the Homa Art Gallery in Tehran, after a more than 30-year absence from his home country.
