Original Lido Bettarini Oil on Canvas Painting
Item Details
An original oil on canvas painting by very well listed artist Lido Bettarini (1938 – ). Lido was born in Florence, and currently reportedly makes his home in Cannes, France. He is one of those rare painters who has found an audience in the public, mostly nationally but also internationally. Perhaps his most notable achievement is having painted the official portrait of Pope John Paul II in 1986. His paintings are absolutely unmistakable, his aesthetic the hallmark of his hand, to such a degree that his works would easily be identified, granted a prior knowledge of the artist, sans signature. His paintings are easy on the eyes, and discuss the space that we all occupy in a manner that is easily relatable, highly palatable, yet effortlessly sophisticated. This painting bears the artist’s signature to the lower lefthand corner and features one of his townscapes, shrouded in mistiness and alive with spatial geometries that are very human. This remarkable work of art is presented in a tasteful wooden frame with silver toned gilding, and a wide canvas border terminating in a bevel at the painting’s edge. A lovely addition to your collection of contemporary European artwork.
Condition
A superb painting in superb condition, the frame shows some hardly noticeable wear in the form of paint chipping.
