William Bill Gollings was born in Pierce City, Idaho and is known for his paintings and etching of animals and personal depictions of the Old West drawn from his own experience as a cowboy. Inspired by Western artist Frederic Remington, Gollings decided to start painting at the age of twenty-five and went on to study at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Throughout his life, he balanced his love for art and is passion for being a cowboy. He worked on a Ranch on a Cheyenne reservation and also studied etching under Wyoming artist Hans Kleiber. His works are housed in the Gilcrease Museum in Oklahoma, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art.

- minor wear and negligible areas of finish loss throughout the edges of frame; toning and small water stain visible to the lower-left corner of matting; minuscule paper residue throughout matting; negligible toning to paper, concentrating on matting sight edge.
