Born in West Germany in 1962, Mark Gingerich is an artist best known for his impressionist style oil painting. At ten years old, Gingerich’s family moved to the United States where the ultimately settled in Ohio. He has studied under several painters including Ralph Oberg and Ken Auster, and he has attended the Columbus College of Art and Design, North Light School, and the Atelier Du Nord School of Classical Realism. Gingerich is a prominent proponent of the en plein air method of painting, and is a founding member of the Ohio Plein Air Society. His artwork has been exhibited at the American Impressionist Society national show, as well as at the Columbus Museum of art and the Ohio Historical Society. In 2003, Gingerich was one of six artists selected for the Paint Ohio project celebrating the state’s bicentennial.
