Clyde J. Singer was an American figural genre and landscape painter of the Social Realist style. He was born in Malvern, Ohio, and studied at the Art Students League in New York under Thomas Hart Benton, John Steuert Curry, and Alexander Brook. After his studies, Singer returned to Ohio where he eventually landed a job at the Butler Institute of American Art, where he served as a teacher, tour guide, curator, and co-director with Joseph Butler III. Singer’s work resides in numerous museum and private collections throughout the United States.
