Grace McArthur is a folk artist known for her vivid paintings of everyday places and buildings filled from top to bottom with playing children, busy people, and animals often incorporating depictions of small comedic scenes in the midst of the general bustle of each overall work. After developing an allergy to ceramics, McArthur first began oil painting at age 50 taking a class in Mt. Pleasant with Virginia Seites. Her first piece won an award at the Saginaw Art Show. She retired from painting 25 years later.
