Robert Moore Kulicke was born and raised in Philadelphia, studying art in high school and advertising design at the Philadelphia College of Art. After serving in World War II, he moved to Paris and studied under Fernand Léger, then on to New York City where he established a framing business. He developed frames for the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Gallery of Art, as well as with contemporary Abstract Expressionist artists. Inspired by Italian artist Giorgio Morandi, Kulicke’s paintings and drawings focus on small-scale still life compositions in a variety of media.
