As a notable young artist, Fabe graduated from Withrow High School and received a two year scholarship to attend the Art Academy of Cincinnati. In the late 1930s, he received a scholarship to the Art Student’s League in New York City. Soon after, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served for five years.
