A Samuel Upham 1861 contemporary counterfeit of a $5 Confederate banknote. Samuel Upham was a small store owner in Philadelphia who decided to sell reproduction Confederate currency as souvenirs of the Civil War. He did have them designated as facsimiles on the bottom edge of the bills, but this designation was easily trimmed off and they were passed off as actual CSA currency. Banknote is heavily circulated and has a tape repair in the middle on the back. Banknote measures 6 3/4′ × 3′.
