Stevan Dohanos is primarily known for his post-war American life illustrations. He was born in Lorain, Ohio and acquired his artistic training at the Cleveland School of Art. During the 1940’s, Dohanos started to work as an illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post, and in doing so established his distinctive genre illustrations and the content for which he is recognized today. His work has been exhibited in various private and public institutions including of The Cleveland Museum, Avery Memorial of Hartford, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, New Britain Museum of American Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

- wear to edges of illustration board; glue staining along margins of illustration board; minor creasing to corners of illustration board; surface wear present to painting.
