Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miró. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.

- paperboard falling out of frame, held in by tape; surface wear present to paper; wear to edges of frame; creasing to corners of paper; toning to paper and paperboard; pinholes to corners of paper due to previous mounting.
