An English hammered King Charles I AR Shilling, Tower Mint, ca. 1641. Obverse: crowned bust of Charles facing left, denomination ‘XII’ (12 pence) behind, all within a beaded circle, triangle-in-circle mintmark, CAROLUS D G MAG BR FRA ET HI REX around. Reverse: long cross fourchee over a square-topped shield, triangle-in-circle mintmark, CHRISTO AUSPICE REGNO around. Metal Content: silver. Diameter: 30.75 mm. Weight: 6.4 grams. Coin is circulated and lightly toned. Reference Spink 2799.
