Cincinnati’s 2000 Big Pig Gig Featured "Pig Of Possibilities” Statue
Item Details
The ’Pig of Possibilities” was displayed on Fountain Square during the summer of 2000 as part Cincinnati (Cin-sow-nati) Ohio’s Great Big Pig Gig tour. The public art initiative brought local artists, businesses, arts organizations, schools and individuals together in an unprecedented way to have fun and to celebrate Cincinnati’s porkopolis past. More than 400 decorated life size fiberglass pigs were displayed in downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky cities of Covington and Newport. Fifty local schools also participated by creating and displaying gig pigs.
The ’Pig of Possibilities” was created by local artist Cindy MacConnell and tastefully decorated in mosaics of limestone, marble, mirror and costume jewelry pieces. The featured pig is highlighted on page 79 of the the official Big Pig Gig Cincinnati Tour book.
