Hand Painted Amphora Vase
Item Details
A rather large Amphora style vase with large curved handles to the top with a gold painted finish. The body of the vase is hand painted with a nude figure of a woman, possibly the Greek goddess, Amphitrite, painted to the front. To the back is a stormy ocean scene with rocky coast, sea gulls and ship in the distance to the back. This wonderful piece was painted by A. Heidrich, the highly skilled and collected Pickard era artist. A. (Adolph) Heidrich was the son of Anton Heidrich a well-known artist with the Trenton potteries. The bottom is stamped with a red D’arcy mark also has a green Limoges mark as shown.
