Mabel Ducasse was known for her pastel drawings of still lifes and figural compositions, particularly those featuring women in domestic settings. She began as a commercial artist creating fashion illustrations in Seattle. After leaving Washington, she studied at the Art Students League with Frank Vincent Dumond, F. Luis Mora and George Bridgman. Ducasse continued her studies at the Pratt Institute, and later received her BFA at the University of Washington. At this time, she worked with renowned photographer Imogen Cunningham and and painter Yasushi Tanaka. Her work has been collected and exhibited by several institutions including the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Rotch Duff Jones Museum, and the Newport Art Museum, among others.
