Uncut Sheet of 200 Confederate States of America 10-cent Postage Stamps, 1863
Item Details
An uncut sheet of 200 Confederate States of America 10-cent Scott #CSA11 (Die A) postage stamps. Stamps were printed by Archer & Daly Bank Note Engravers of Richmond, VA, and designed by John Archer. Each stamp depicts a bust of Jefferson Davis facing right, with ‘Postage 10 Cents’ at the top and bottom of each stamp (the first printing of these stamps had ‘Ten Cents’ at the bottom and not ‘10 Cents’). Stamps are a light blue on thin, soft paper. Paper is very fragile, especially at the edges, where there are multiple chips, minute tears, etc. The upper right corner is missing, affecting one of the stamps. A few moth/insect holes in the paper are scattered throughout. Sheet measures 18′ × 11′.
