An original oil painting titled The After Glow, New England by artist George Herbert McCord (American, 1848 – 1909). Although McCord painted a wide variety of subjects, he is known for his marine and landscape painting and is prolific in oil, pastel, and watercolor. He studied at the Hudson River Institute and the Claverack Academy, and is considered a second generation Hudson School painter. His aesthetic vision toward Romanticism can be seen in this painting featuring a dramatic and vibrant sunset with two individuals on a stone bridge. This painting is an oil on board, signed on the lower right George H. McCord, and includes a plaque mounted on the frame. It is framed by Closson of Cincinnati and is presented in a wide gold tone frame
